Ariel walked out of her appartment, carrying bags, towels, and a lunch bag. Toe-ing the door closed, she trotted out of the building. Heading out of the village, flip-flops slapping on the road to the beach section she used the most. As if that made much difference, being an island! Finally walking on the sand, she approached a spot shaded by a few palms and lay down her load. She spread out her favorite beach towel, the one with the fish, coral, and a little red crab. Something about that crab always struck Ariel as familiar, but she just couldn't place it. "Missing memories are such a curse." Ariel spoke to herself dryly. Turning back to her bags, she took out high SPF sun lotion and sprayed it all over herself. Then she pulled off her flip-flops, took off her clothing (except swimsuit, of course, Ariel wore it underneath.), placed the clothing in a bag, and ran towards the ocean. She stepped in, enjoying the feeling of the pounding waves. Ariel was always happiest in or by the sea. It felt like home, the surest feeling of home than anywhere else felt. After swimming for a while, she ran over to the surf shack and got her surfboard. Carrying it to the ocean, she began surfing, which she loved to do.
